What's New at the Frances L. Simek Memorial Library
The Medford Library has gone through a lot of changes in the last several years. If you are interested in keeping abreast of new innovations that your public library is undergoing and other newsworthy items, this is the place to be.
2008 Volunteer of the Year
Helen Gelhaus has been chosen as our Frances L. Simek Memorial Library Volunteer of the Year. Helen volunteers weekly and we call her our "cover girl" because she covers almost all of the new books before they are put out on the shelves. She also helps with storytimes and she is even willing to dress up as Old Mother Hubbard, or other characters. The kids love her!
Youth Summer Reading Program
Each summer, the Frances L. Simek Memorial Library, Medford, and the Jean M. Thomson Memorial Library in Stetsonville host the Summer Library Programs in cooperation with the Medford Area Public Schools. The 2008 Summer Reading Program theme is: "Catch The Reading Bug!". It is open to all readers, pre-kindergarten through middle school.
The Wisconsin Valley Library System and Medford Recreation Commission also provide fun and educational programs at the libraries to compliment the Summer Reading theme.
